Further Details: Strathlyn Coach House luxury cottage-style accommodation is located only 1km from the small town of Angaston on the main Nuriootpa to Angaston road. The blue-stone coach house dating from 1906 stands in an almond orchard on a gentle slope in the north-west corner of Strathlyn Estate, once the original farming property of Fulton Salter, whose forebears established Saltram Winery, which today offers wine tasting and sales in part of the original cellar. The coach house, once used to store the family coach and stable the horses, was completely restored and converted by the Anderson family to a cottage in 1995 without destroying its unique character. One lucky couple is afforded complete tranquility, seclusion and an opportunity to rest, relax and unwind. The coach house is a convenient base from which to explore the world famous Barossa wine region.
Set in the Barossa ranges, the small township of Angaston, with its blend of early English and German heritage, features a main street of small shops and some fine public buildings, numerous art and craft shops, galleries, tea rooms, two hotels, restaurants, take-away, supermarket, gourmet food, newsagent and several banks. Angaston is also the home of the Angas Park Fruit Company which specialises in dried fruit and confectionary. The Barossa region has a diverse range of restaurants offering international and modern Australian cuisine.
