"Merlot Cottage"
Merlot Cottage is a romantic and historic squatter's cottage built sometime in the 1850's. Its walls were constructed from rock and mud, then rendered to give a smooth finish - as seen on the cottage's unrestored south wall. But don't let its age deceive you; it has been sympathetically renovated to include modern amenities, but leaving intact certain rustic features (worn doorsteps, low doorways, crooked windows, etc). Merlot Cottage is situated in a secluded location, down a type of "country lane", a convenient 5-minute walking distance from the centre of Tanunda, the Barossa Valley's quaintest town. There you will find restaurants, shops, antiques and wineries. The cottage lies on a large block of land, with a terraced cottage/bush garden and views of the Barossa Ranges. The cottage features an ensuite spa, wood fire, air-conditioning, antiques and a fully equipped kitchen. Your gourmet breakfast needs are provided, as are port, cheese, chocolate brownies, home-made cookies and other goodies. We offer a discount for mid-week direct bookings. Merlot Cottage is unsurpassed in Tanunda, and offers what the majority of visitors desire: privacy, romance, spa bath, wood fire, and a short walk to restaurants. Guests need only bring personal items. Your hosts, Lian and Peter, are very experienced in the better end of the B&B industry. Click here to make a booking enquiry/request!
